Key Inactives:

  • RB: Josh Jacobs (GB) - Commissioner’s Exempt List

  • TE: Brock Bowers (LV) - Knee; will miss a week or two

Plenty of other guys to watch. Check back Sunday morning for the updated list.

🏈 Wednesday/Thursday Night Recaps:

Seahawks 13, Patriots 10 – Seattle's Super Bowl banner-raising nearly went sideways after Sam Darnold exited with a hip injury on the opening drive (later described as an "unusual muscle strain," no IR being considered). Backup Drew Lock struggled early but delivered two clutch scoring drives, including a 4th-and-1 conversion to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Dark Side D sealed it with three fourth-quarter picks off Drake Maye, capped by a Josh Jobe end-zone interception. Patriots WR A.J. Brown left with an ankle injury and is now considered week-to-week. Seahawks visit Arizona Week 2; Patriots host Pittsburgh.

49ers 27, Rams 7 (Melbourne) – San Francisco used its extra week Down Under to full advantage, routing the Rams behind Brock Purdy (205 yards, 3 TD passes to Mike Evans, Demarcus Robinson and Deebo Samuel). Kyren Williams scored the NFL's first-ever Australian touchdown, but the Niners answered with 24 straight points. The defense (now run by Raheem Morris) held Matthew Stafford to 155 yards and forced a fourth-down stop at the goal line. Myles Garrett was a non-factor in his Rams debut (zero tackles) and admitted afterward his knee isn't fully healthy. 49ers host Miami Week 2; Rams host the Giants.

🚨 Player News:

De'Zhaun Stribling (SF) – The rookie WR exited Week 1 on a cart with an ankle injury after briefly returning to the game. Status update expected soon. (Christopher Crawford)

A.J. Brown (NE) – Ian Rapoport reports Brown will miss at least four weeks with an ankle injury; Jordan Schultz's 3-6 week range makes short-term IR likely. Romeo Doubs is the clear beneficiary in New England's thin receiver room. (Ian Rapoport)

Sam Darnold (SEA) – Dealing with an "unusual muscle strain" with no set recovery timetable; IR is not currently on the table. Drew Lock is considered the "likely starter" for Week 2 vs. Arizona. (Tom Pelissero)

Tucker Kraft (GB) – A long-term extension is unlikely before kickoff, with the Packers reportedly more focused on structure than total value given Kraft's ACL recovery. Still treat him as a TE1 as long as he's on the field. (Tom Silverstein)

Packers WRs (Watson/Reed/Golden) – Matt LaFleur wants Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden on the field "for as many plays as humanly possible," confirming last camp's chatter about reduced rotation. Watson looks like a shoo-in WR2 if his ACL return holds up; Golden profiles for a Year 2 leap; Reed is a strong FLEX bet with a high snap share. (Matt Schneidman)

Malik Nabers (NYG) – Says it's entirely his call whether he plays Week 1 vs. Dallas. He's practicing fully and Adam Schefter says he's "on track to play" — lean toward him suiting up, but treat him as a WR2 given unclear usage. (SNY Giants)

Tua Tagovailoa (ATL) – Added to the injury report Thursday with an oblique issue after leaving practice early; backup Cooper Rush took the rest of the first-team reps. Now firmly questionable for Week 1.

Breece Hall (NYJ) – Says he's "good to go" for a full workload and is practicing without limitation ahead of Week 1 vs. Tennessee. Treat him as a full-fledged RB1. Depth piece Isaiah Davis is also full-go. (Rich Cimini)

Josh Jacobs (GB) – Remains on the Commissioner's Exempt List with "no timetable" on discipline, per Adam Schefter, as the league continues reviewing a personal conduct matter. MarShawn Lloyd projects as the fill-in starter until further notice. (Adam Schefter)

That’s the Saturday News drop. Tomorrow’s edition will provide a full update on players who are on the bubble to suit up for Week 1.
