🏈 Thursday Night Football Recap:
Broncos 17, Seahawks 14
The Broncos beat the Seahawks 17-14 in overtime Thursday night, thanks mostly to their defense. Ja’Quan McMillian intercepted Sam Darnold on Seattle’s first overtime possession, and Wil Lutz followed with a 53-yard field goal. Denver moved to 4-2 even though it gave up a late 11-point Seattle comeback and was outgained 353-168. For fantasy, the Broncos D/ST was the clear winner, with 5 sacks, 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery while missing Patrick Surtain II, which makes them a must-start going forward. Bo Nix (107 passing yards) and Darnold (278 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT) should both stay on benches. Denver’s backfield is split between J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, who each scored, so treat them as touchdown-dependent flex options. Jaxon Smith-Njigba played through an ankle issue and caught 12 passes for 134 yards, which cements him as an every-week WR1 no matter who’s throwing to him.
🚨 Player News:
Caleb Williams (CHI) – A social media video suggests he’ll play Sunday vs. Atlanta. Earlier, Ben Johnson said the medical team was putting him through “final stress tests” in his return from the hamstring injury. There’s no official confirmation yet, but expect him to suit up as a mid-to-low QB1. (Ian Rapoport)
Josh Jacobs (GB) – He’s set to come off the Commissioner Exempt list Monday, but the NFL “could step back in” with a longer suspension if video of his altercation with a woman is released. Jacobs has sued to block its release, and the woman hasn’t taken part in the league’s investigation. His status could change quickly. (Jeremy Fowler)
Jalen Hurts (PHI) – The Eagles will decide Saturday whether to place him on short-term IR with a blood clot. The situation is “very much touch and go,” and Tanner McKee will probably start multiple games. If Hurts lands on IR, the Week 10 bye pushes his earliest return to Week 11 vs. Pittsburgh. (Jeremy Fowler)
Sam Darnold (SEA) – Mike Macdonald says Darnold’s starting job isn’t in jeopardy, despite the offense struggling and Drew Lock playing well in relief. He may still be working back to form after a glute tendon strain. He’s a QB2 vs. the Chiefs. (The Athletic)
Ashton Jeanty (LV) – Says he feels “great” and “ready to go” for Week 6 against the Bills. The ankle injury is off the practice report, so only the foot (plantar fasciitis flare-up) remains. Start him as a low-end RB1. (ESPN)
Demarcus Robinson (SF) – Kyle Shanahan gave him an “outside chance” to return in Week 7 against the Falcons, but Week 9 against the Raiders (after the bye) looks more likely. He’s not a must-stash, and he could be a bye-week waiver pickup if you need WR help. (Nick Wagoner)
Pat Surtain (DEN) – More likely to return in Week 8 against the Chiefs than in Week 7 against the Cardinals. Contrary to earlier reports, the ankle injury was not non-contact. Getting him back for Mahomes would be a big boost for the Broncos D/ST. (James Palmer)
That’s the news. Good luck out there this weekend… come back tomorrow for a list of doubtful and inactive players.
